We help businesses figure out things like:

• How to reduce GHG emissions
• How to meet customer sustainability requirements
• How to actually build a real sustainability program (not just talk about it)

It’s fast-paced, a bit chaotic (in a good way), and we’re growing. 🚀  

The Role

We’re looking for someone who loves bringing order to chaos.

You’ll work directly with the president, taking ownership of inbox, calendar and follow-ups to help keep the business running smoothly across clients and projects.

This is not a “sit and wait for tasks” role.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Keeping the inbox under control (reading, organizing, drafting replies)
• Managing and coordinating the calendar
• Turning meeting notes into clear follow-ups and action items
• Making sure tasks don’t fall through the cracks
• Helping protect and optimize the president’s time 
• Helping keep client projects moving
• Updating tools like Trello, HubSpot, Google Drive
• Uploading YouTube videos and posting content using Canva
• Light support on proposals 
• Light support on travel, scheduling commitments, and general coordination

• You follow up (even when no one asks you to)
• You write clearly and professionally
• You’re calm, reliable, and don’t get flustered easily
• You like being the person who keeps things running smoothly
• You handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism

• Supported a founder, president or small team before
• Worked in a consulting, agency, or startup environment

Who This Is Not For

• Not a sustainability or ESG role
• Not a stepping stone into consulting
• Not for someone who wants to be “front and centre”

This is a behind-the-scenes role that keeps everything working.

Location & Schedule

• Based near Hamilton / Waterdown / Burlington
• 10–15 hours per week (with potential to grow over time)
  • Example of preferred coverage windows
    • 2–3 hours per day, 5 days/week
      • Example:
      • 9:30–11:00am → inbox + morning setup
      • 3:30–4:30pm → follow-ups + cleanup
• Flexible schedule, mostly remote
• Occasional in-person (coffee / coworking at The Cotton Factory in Hamilton once a week or so)

We’re looking for consistent daily coverage (1–3 hours per day) to stay on top of inbox and coordination. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that works. 

Compensation

• $25–$35 CAD/hour, depending on experience
• This is a part-time independent contractor role. The successful candidate will invoice ThisRock Inc. and is responsible for their own taxes and remittances.

We’ll work together to find a schedule that keeps things running smoothly while fitting both of our routines. Candidates should be set up or willing to operate, as an independent contractor in Canada.
